Apples and Onions

A cozy nook good for lounging over steaming mugs and laughing with friends in wooly sweaters.

Name:
Location: The Bronx, New York, United States

A small time cat lover and film school graduate intent on making a go of life in an outer borough well above sea level. I enjoy avoiding subways and doing my bit concerning the taxes on tobacco. A fastidious spell-checker, I've pissed away most of my twenties perfecting my record collection and forgetting all my Greek and most of my Latin.

Mercer Street Book Haul

Love's Cross Currents - Swinburne (More fodder for my long awaited "Novels by Poets" survey)
Jealousy & In the Labyrinth (2n1) - Robbe-Grillet (He's French, right?)
Rosshalde - Hesse (Three dollars worth of nostalgia for the dead romantic in my chest)
Lions and Shadows - Isherwood
Green Hills of Africa - Hemingway
Sonny Liston was a Friend of Mine - Jones
Studies in Classic American Literature - Lawrence (Want to see what he has to say about Melville)
Ultramarine - Lowry

And all those dead white men (sorry Thom)for just $32.62. Wouldn't even have spent that much if someone didn't take so long browsing. You really need a time limit for used bookstores, else you run the danger of poisoning the book lover inside and leaving empty handed. Happy to report almost complete immunity to their used vinyl, barely any cravings.

Money is flowing downhill and out of my pockets. Yankee Stadium didn't help much last night. But really, what's sixty bucks in beer and foot-longs when you got field level seats? Can't say I'm not doing my part for Jeter and the boys.
